DS Mechanical and ANSYS have full round-trip associativity. This means that changes to the model can be sent back and forth between DS Mechanical and ANSYS.
You can define groups to use as parameters and named selections. If the objects in the group are similar or related, then a property is created that can be used to change a parameter in ANSYS. For example, you could create a group of all faces that have the same offset and use this group to change the offset in ANSYS.

Note: Negative dimension values can invert the direction vector of DS Mechanical operations that they are associated with; this change is applied to the current and subsequent design point updates. As a result, when a Workbench input parameter is used as a driving dimension for a DS Mechanical geometry, negative dimension values may result in unexpected geometric changes.
In ANSYS 13.0, groups are instantly added to the Parameters group in Workbench. Changes to the group in DS Mechanical, such as renaming and deleting the group, are also immediately reflected in Workbench.
However, if you edit the dimension of a group parameter in DS Mechanical, the new value is not automatically updated in Workbench. You must click Update Parameters in the ANSYS group to push the change to Workbench. You can also send the change by saving the project or closing DS Mechanical. This means that if DS Mechanical is not running, you know that the parameters are up-to-date.
You can create driving dimension groups in DS Mechanical and use them to change key dimensions in ANSYS. Just click on the part in the structure tree in ANSYS and find the CAD Parameters section in the Details panel. Change a value and run the analysis again to see its affect. You can use Update to send the new values back to DS Mechanical.
