Moving in 2D

Use the MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. tool to move lines or points with the Move handle. When you move points or lines with this tool, they do not maintain their connections to other lines or points. If you want to maintain the connections in your sketch, use the Select tool to edit the sketch.

To move sketch entities

1. Click MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. in the Edit group on the Design2D or 3D model that contains at least one top-level component. tab.

2. Select the curve or curves that you want to move.

3. Select the following options:

4. (Optional) To change the anchor location of the MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. handle

   • Drag the yellow center sphere on the MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. handle.

   • Click the Anchor tool guide and select the face, edge, or vertex on which to place the MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. handle.

5. (Optional) To change the direction or trajectory for the move,

6. Click an axis and drag in that direction to move the selected object.

   A line extends from the MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. handle axis to indicate the direction you selected for movement.

7. To dimension the move,

   1. Click Ruler in the Options panelArea of the user interface that enables you to modify functions specific to tools..

   2. Click an edge or face to anchor the ruler.

      The ruler is oriented along the selected MoveA tool used to translate or rotate geometry. handle axis.

   3. Type a distance and press Enter.
