Broken out section views

Broken out sections display internal details in a portion of an existing view. You select an attachment point in the view, set the depth of the section, and sketch a section boundary. The area within the boundary is cutout up to the section depth to expose the interior details.

To create a Broken out section view

1. Set the attachment popint by picking on a point somewhere on a model within a drawing view.

2. Set the depth.

   • The default is zero.

   • If the attachment point is on a hole axis, a zero depth creates a section through the center bof the hole.

3. Choose the boundary type:

   • Circle

   • SplineA continuously curved line, without sharp boundaries (that is, without vertices). Create a spline by defining a set of points using the Spline tool. A spline becomes an edge when you pull it with the PullTool used to distort or deform geometry. Use the Pull tool to offset, extrude, revolve, sweep, draft, and blend faces; or to round, chamfer, or extrude edges. When converting a sketch to 3D, pulling a line creates a surface and pulling a surface creates a solid. tool.

4. Sketch the section Boundary.

5. The view is created.

To change the view boundary linestyle

1. Open SpaceClaim Options
2. Click on Detailing
3. Open the General options page
4. In Linestyle options, select Broken-Out section clipping edges
5. Choose from:
   • Thin
   • Medium
   • Thick

To modify a Broken out section view

1. Hover over the clipping boundary to prehighlight it for selection
2. Select the boundary
3. Do any of the following:
   • Drag the boundary to re-size the area
   • Select the anchor and drag it to a new location
   • Change the depth in the Properties panelArea of the user interface that displays editable details about the selected object(s). This panel is initially displayed on the lower left side of the screen, but can be moved.
   • Delete the section
