Sketch Ribbon

The tools in the Create ribbon group are used to create sketch and construction curves.

Line
Use the Line tool to sketch lines in 2D.
Tangent Line
Use the Tangent Line tool to sketch lines tangent to any curves in your design.
Construction Line
Use the Construction Line tool to draw lines that help you create an accurate sketch. These lines become axes in 3D mode.
Rectangle
Use the Rectangle tool to draw a rectangle along the axes of the sketch grid.
Three-Point Rectangle
Use the Three-Point Rectangle tool to quickly sketch a rectangle at any angle in 2D.
Ellipse
Use the Ellipse tool to sketch an ellipse in 2D.
Circle
Use the Circle tool to sketch a circle in 2D when you know the location of the circle's center and radius, diameter, or a point on the circle's edge.
Three-Point Circle
Use the Three-Point Circle tool when you don't know the center of the circle, but you know where the edge of the circle must be. This tool works with any combination of free points, known points, or tangent attachments.
Polygon
Use the Polygon tool to sketch a polygon with up to 32 sides.
Tangent Arc
Use the Tangent Arc tool to sketch an arc tangent to any single curve or line in your design.
Three-Point Arc
Use the Three-Point Arc tool to create an arc by specifying its start and end points, and the radius or chord angle.
Sweep Arc
Use the Sweep Arc tool to create an arc with a known center and end points.
Spline
Use the Spline tool to sketch splines in 2D. A spline is a continuously curved line, without sharp boundaries (that is, without vertices).
Point
Use the Point tool to sketch points in 2D.
Face Curve
Use the Face Curve tool to sketch a curve on a face of a solid.

The Modify group contains the following sketch editing tools:

Create Rounded Corner
Use the Create Rounded Corner tool to trim back or connect two intersecting lines or arcs so that they meet with an arc tangent at both ends.
Offset Curve
Use the Offset Curve tool to create an offset of any line in the grid plane.
Project to Sketch
Use the Project to Sketch tool to project edges from a 3D object onto the sketch grid.
Create Corner
Use the Create Corner tool to trim back or extend two lines so that they meet at a corner.
Trim Away
Use the Trim Away tool to delete any line portion bounded by an intersection with a line or edge.
Split Curve
Use the Split Curve tool to split one line with another line or point.

The Constraints group contains the following tools to add constraints to sketches:

Dimension
Use the Dimension tool to create a dimension constraint.
Coincident
Use the Coincident tool to create a coincident constraint.
Midpoint
Use the Midpoint tool to create a mid-point constraint.
Concentric
Use the Concentric tool to create a concentric constraint.
Fixed
Use the Fixed tool to create a fixed constraint.
Horizontal
Use the Horizontal tool to create a horizontal constraint.
Vertical
Use the Vertical tool to create a vertical constraint.
Parallel
Use the Parallel tool to create a parallel constraint.
Perpendicular
Use the Perpendicular tool to create a perpendicular constraint.
Tangent
Use the Tangent tool to create a tangent constraint.
Equal Radius
Use the Equal Radius tool to create an equal radius constraint.
Equal Distance
Use the Equal Distance tool to create an equal distance constraint.
Show Constraint Tips
Use the Show Constraint Tips tool to view the constraints applied.
Delete Constraints
Use the Delete Constraints tool to delete constraints.
Autoconstrain
Use the Autoconstrain tool to find the specified constraint types and automatically set up constraints.

The End Sketch group contains options to enable sketching in 3D and end sketch editing.

Enable 3D Sketch
Use Enable 3D Sketch to switch to sketching in 3D. See Working with Sketch Curves in 3D for the sketch tools you can use in 3D mode.
End Sketch Editing
Use End Sketch Editing to complete sketch editing.
